A growing controversy surrounding Hong Min Gi has intensified as his ex-girlfriend continues to make allegations while his representatives strongly deny them.
His ex-girlfriend alleges that Hong Min Gi assaulted and threatened her, including throwing a soju bottle, hitting her shoulder, pushing her, and grabbing her by the neck. She also claims that he violated her privacy by secretly checking her phone and KakaoTalk messages.
Hong Min Gi’s representatives, however, say the couple began dating in April 2026 and that he decided to end the relationship after discovering that she had continued contacting and meeting other men during their relationship. They claim she later repeatedly asked to get back together, contacted him against his wishes, and even visited his family’s home. His side has also denied allegations involving animal abuse and inappropriate relationships with fans, saying they plan to take legal action, including defamation claims.
His ex-girlfriend has since pushed back against his statements, claiming that he pressured her to have an abortion after she became pregnant. In response, Hong Min Gi’s side stated, “Around 6 AM on August 19, 2026, she sent the actor an ultrasound photo with the message ‘Shut up before I reveal all of this.’ However, she had never shown him this ultrasound photo before. Furthermore, the ultrasound image was not typical of a standard pregnancy. Our side has requested confirmation from an obstetrics and gynecology medical professional regarding the ultrasound photo sent by her and plans to submit this as evidence.”

The tweet reads, “And finally, the proof of the notes and the ultrasound got released… Earlier, when the agency denied it, they said they wanted to check first, right, whether the ultrasound photo was real or not, or fake. And the lady just went ahead and posted it straight to social media.”

With both sides continuing to make new allegations and rebuttals, the dispute has increasingly turned into a public back-and-forth. While Hong Min Gi’s side has taken a firm stance and announced plans for legal action, the controversy has already begun to affect his public image.
The advertising industry has also taken notice. OSEN reported on August 20th that a 2024 Vegemil commercial featuring Hong Min Gi and Oh Ye Ju, his co-star in Love Your Enemy, was recently made private. The reason has not been officially confirmed, but the move has sparked speculation that it may be connected to the dating violence allegations. Meanwhile, a 2022 commercial featuring Hong Min Gi and Kim Yoo Jung remains publicly available.
In their second statement, Hong Min Gi’s representatives said they would stop responding to each of his former girlfriend’s claims individually and instead focus on civil and criminal legal action based on the evidence they have collected. His former girlfriend has likewise said she will no longer post about Hong Min Gi publicly and plans to seek legal accountability through the courts.
