They are back! The lovely K-Pop trio BBGIRLS (formerly Brave Girls) have returned for the summer to make things even hotter and more thrilling than before.
Under BBGirls Company, members Minyoung, Eunji and Yuna reunite on the stage with their dazzling new track “BODY WAVE” which encapsulates the spirit of summer filled with fun beats, style, flair, and a charming summer-themed MV. The electric party dance single has a repetitive chorus paired with fluctuating vocals and beats that can hypnotize listeners and get their bodies moving.
The lovely ladies have the ambition and drive to reclaim the throne as the queens of summer with their next big summer track. Despite the fierce competition in the K-Pop scene this year, they are already making waves with the announcement of their return and have prepared a wonderful video greeting just for ZAPZEE’s viewers. Q. Tell us about your return with “BODY WAVE” – why did the group produce a summer track?
Minyoung: After the success of “Rollin,” we released “Chi Mat Ba Ram,” and it was also very successful. We wanted to continue releasing summer songs after that, but we had many projects that prevented us from doing summer activities for a short while. We felt we must do a summer song this time and together with the members we created the title “BODY WAVE” for our summer track. We are quite excited and nervous about this particular song and upcoming stages.
Q. Can you tell us about any behind-the-scenes stories from the MV?
Minyoung: There were so many cameo appearances in the “BODY WAVE” music video. Even though everyone was busy and we had a tight schedule for filming, we invited our friends to appear on the set with us. They really got into the spirit of the shoot and brought such great energy to the set. Thanks to them, “BODY WAVE” became a really fun and memorable music video for us. We also wanted to film in various locations, so we performed on a yacht, by the beach and have complete summer vibes
Q. Did you prepare anything special for your upcoming stages on Korean music programs?
Yuna: Yes! And all of the concepts and outfits are different for every stage.
Q. Do you ever read the comments on your videos?
Minyoung: Of course. We check all the comments and realized there are many international fans and comments in different languages. Particularly, “BODY WAVE” is receiving a lot of attention from abroad.
Q. Which member can do the best body wave? Did anyone struggle with the choreography?
Minyoung: Each member has her own strengths when it comes to doing the choreography for “BODY WAVE.” It would be fun for fans to watch the MV and our performance video and see if you can figure out who is best at doing a body wave! We also worked on the choreography together with the members, so it didn’t feel particularly difficult for us to perform.
Q. What is something the girls enjoy doing in the summer? Is there an iconic activity you love to do in the summer like WATERBOMB?
Minyoung: We’ve performed at WATERBOMB before, and we’d definitely love to be part of it again in the future. Personally, I’d also love to go and enjoy the festival myself! I love swimming and playing in the water.
Yuna: Like Minyoung, I also love playing around in the water!
Eunji: I have a fear of water but meeting with friends and eating delicious food, drinking and taking pictures together is the best summer activity.
Q. Amongst your previously released songs, were there any you thought would be the most popular?
Minyoung: Out of all the songs we’ve released, the song we like the most and would recommend right now is “BODY WAVE.” The moment we heard it we felt like we had to do this song.
Q. What does the song “Rollin’” mean to you now years later?
Minyoung: “Rollin’” is like a gift to us. It’s also a very special song because it helped connect us with so many of our fans.
Q. Are there any K-Dramas the members are watching lately?
Eunji: Lately, we’ve been watching K-dramas such as Agent Kim Reactivated– do you know it? It is quite popular.
Minyoung: Teach You A Lesson.
Yuna: I enjoyed If Wishes Could Kill.
Before wrapping up their interview, the summer queens wanted to share one more message with their darling fans, FEARLESS. “We’d love to spend more time with our fans overseas, and we hope we’ll have many more opportunities to meet them in the future.” The girls further expressed their love for their fans and hope that their new song “BODY WAVE” can top the charts, just like “Rollin” did.
