Netflix’s ‘If Wishes Could Kill’ Heads Toward Season 2? Series Hits Top 10 in 64 Countries

Netflix’s YA horror series If Wishes Could Kill is continuing its global rise, officially reaching No. 1 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English TV chart as the streamer unveiled new behind-the-scenes production stills from the hit series.

The drama follows a group of high school students who become marked for sudden death after using a wish-granting app called Girigo. As the curse closes in, the teens desperately fight to survive and uncover the truth behind the mysterious application.

Now in its second week of release, If Wishes Could Kill recorded 7.5 million views and claimed the No. 1 spot in 24 countries. The series also landed in the Top 10 rankings across 64 countries, proving the growing global appetite for YA horror stories.

Critics both in Korea and overseas have praised not only the show’s chilling premise, but also the performances from its rising young cast.

“One you simply can’t stop watching once you start,” wrote JoyNews24, adding that viewers will find themselves “racing through all eight episodes with their hearts pounding.” TV Report’s praised the drama for combining “teenagers’ honest emotions with occult horror” to create a fresh new take on the teen horror genre.

India Today also highlighted the cast’s performances, writing, “The performances act as an emotional anchor to the series. The characters portray the volatility of adolescence, where one oscillates between rationality and impulse.”

Viewers have also flooded social media and review platforms with enthusiastic reactions. “It was so good I opened the Girigo app myself and wished for Season 2,” one YouTube user joked, while another praised the relatively fresh-faced cast, saying, “There are so many actors I haven’t seen before, but everyone’s acting is incredible.”

Others called the series “a true horror masterpiece” and praised its relentless tension and emotional pacing across all eight episodes.

If Wishes Could Kill, starring rising newcomers Jeon So Young, Kang Mina, Baek Sun Ho, Hyun Woo Seok and Lee Hyo Je, is currently streaming on Netflix.
