Kim Jong Kook is opening up about his latest real estate move—and his upcoming wedding.
On August 23rd, the veteran singer appeared on the YouTube channel “GGANG_SIAN,” where host Lee Sian mentioned recent news that Kim had purchased a luxury villa in Seoul’s Gangnam district back in April. The price: 6.2 billion KRW (approximately 4.5 million USD)—and he paid it entirely in cash.
“It’s not an investment, it’s for me to live in,” Kim clarified. Asked why he skipped a mortgage, he explained simply: “I just don’t like paying interest.”
When Lee expressed envy, Kim responded: “There’s nothing to envy. I don’t do financial investments. I’ve never had any so-called ‘easy money’ luck. I’ve tried, but it doesn’t work for me. I guess it’s just my fate, so I work and I save.”
He added a note of caution to fans: “I don’t recommend it. Everyone should make smart investments. For me, taking care of my health is the best investment now.”
The news comes just after Kim, who debuted 30 years ago, announced his marriage plans on August 18th. “Instead of making an album this year, I met my other half,” he joked. The ceremony, he revealed, will be held soon on a modest scale, with only close family, relatives, and a few friends in attendance.
