Do Kyung Soo, better known as D.O. from EXO, is diving into the romance genre with his upcoming fantasy film Secret: Untold Melody. During a press interview on Wednesday, the multifaceted performer opened up about love, both on and off screen.
The film, directed by Seo You Min, is a Korean remake of the Taiwanese film Secret that weaves a heart-fluttering romance between two students, Yu Jun and Jung Ah, who encounter each other in a practice room on the campus with time-bending secrets.
Reflecting on the film’s ending, D.O. shared, “When you’re young and fall in love, you can’t think of anything else and just choose love. I think if you’re really into someone, that’s the choice you’d make.” He added with a laugh, “I haven’t experienced such serious love yet. I dated in high school, but honestly, nothing that intense.”
The idol-actor revealed his process of understanding romance: “Since I was young, watching dramas and movies, I thought (feelings of love) were all similar. Hearing about happy experiences and dating concerns from people around me helped a lot. I also learned from observing couples in relationships.”
When asked if he received dating advice from his close celebrity friends Lee Kwang Soo and Kim Woo Bin, who are in long-term relationships, Do responded, “No. We don’t really talk about dating and such. I know Lee Sun Bin, but I’ve never even met Shin Mina.”

The 30-year-old star candidly addressed his own dating history when prompted about reflecting on his high school romance during filming: “Dating? Of course, I’ve done it.” However, when questioned about potential public relationships, he laughed and stated, “You won’t be seeing any public dating from me. I don’t think it’s the right timing for me to date publicly. When the time comes, maybe I will.”
Meanwhile, Secret: Untold Melody hits theaters on January 27th.
