Song Kang and Kim So Hyun are set to star as a couple caught in a fake relationship in MBC’s upcoming drama White Scandal (literal title).
The Friday-Saturday series follows Dan Yi Hyuk, a third-generation chaebol heir and top actor who has no interest in taking over his family’s business, and Ji Eun Seol, a former child star whose promising career was derailed by a mysterious incident. The two enter into a fake relationship to serve their own purposes, but as they spend more time together, they begin to confront their past wounds and secrets.
Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, White Scandal will be directed by Kim Chul Gyu and written by Kim Ga Eun. Ghost Studio and Web Creative are producing the series.
The drama also marks a reunion for Song Kang and Kim So Hyun, who previously starred together in a coming-of-age romance. This time, they will play two people brought back together by a painful past, creating a very different dynamic.
Song Kang will play Dan Yi Hyuk, a top actor and third-generation chaebol heir. Born as the illegitimate son of a wealthy family, Yi Hyuk has spent his life living up to his grandfather’s expectations. While the public adores him as a celebrity, his family expects him to be the perfect heir.
His carefully controlled life is disrupted when Ji Eun Seol, a former child actress, suddenly reappears. The two eventually agree to pretend to be a couple, each hoping to achieve their own goals.
The role will allow Song Kang to show both sides of Yi Hyuk’s life, from the glamorous world of a top star to the emotional turmoil he keeps hidden beneath the surface.
Kim So Hyun will play Ji Eun Seol, a former child star whose career was cut short after a life-changing incident. Now working as a manager, she still holds onto her dream of becoming an actress.
When Eun Seol reunites with Yi Hyuk, who was closely connected to the incident that changed her life, long-buried memories and secrets begin to resurface. Their fake relationship gradually forces them to face the pain they have both tried to leave behind.
Known for her nuanced performances, Kim So Hyun is expected to bring emotional depth to Eun Seol as she portrays the character’s complicated journey between her painful past and uncertain present.
