Fans got a fresh look at ASTRO member Cha Eun Woo as photos of his military service began circulating across social media on August 12th.
The images show him posing with nine fellow soldiers for a playful series of photo-booth strips. He chose to lean into a funny, exaggerated look, wearing animal-ear headbands and pulling goofy expressions for the camera, including a wide-mouthed laugh. Fans also noticed his face looks slightly fuller than it did before he enlisted.
The visual update follows a challenging period for the singer and actor earlier this year. He made headlines in January after tax authorities notified him of over 20 billion won in back taxes ($14 million). Reports later confirmed he settled the issue by April after paying roughly 13 billion won ($9 million) of the assessed total.
Cha is currently fulfilling his mandatory military duty in the military band, with his discharge scheduled for January 2027. He is already looking toward his post-military career and is reportedly considering a role in Bon Appétit, Your Majesty director Jang Tae Yoo’s upcoming project Seorabeol Knife.
