A man who broke into the home of Nana has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

The Namyangju branch of the Uijeongbu District Court sentenced the defendant to seven years behind bars after finding him guilty of robbery and assault on June 9th. The court also ruled that the actions taken by Nana and her mother during the incident constituted self-defense.

Prosecutors had sought a 10-year prison sentence, arguing that the crime was serious, the defendant showed little genuine remorse, and no settlement had been reached with the victim.

The case comes from an incident on November 15th, 2025, when the man allegedly broke into Nana’s home in Gyeonggi Province. Prosecutors said he threatened Nana and her mother with a weapon while attempting to steal money.

During the confrontation, Nana and her mother managed to subdue the intruder and hold him until the police arrived. Following his arrest, the man filed a counterclaim accusing Nana of attempted murder, alleging that he was injured while being restrained. However, police determined that Nana’s actions were legally justified as self-defense and declined to pursue the case. Nana later filed a defamation complaint against him.

In his final statement before sentencing, the man apologized to Nana and her mother, saying, “I will never commit a crime like this again.” However, he continued to deny key parts of the prosecution’s case, insisting that he never stabbed or assaulted anyone.

The man claimed he did not bring a knife into the residence and said he was surprised when he encountered Nana’s mother. According to his account, he admitted he was there to steal, after which she allegedly pushed him. He further claimed that Nana’s mother grabbed a knife, threatened him and stabbed him in the neck.

He also denied assaulting either victim, stating that he only hugged Nana’s mother in an attempt to calm the situation. “If hugging someone is considered assault, then I admit to that,” he said.

The man told the court that he resorted to theft because his mother had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and required expensive medical treatment. He also alleged that Nana encouraged him to falsely tell investigators that he had brought a knife to the scene, a claim he repeated multiple times during his testimony.

The defendant maintained that he was unaware that the home belonged to Nana until after his arrest.

Nana and her mother previously testified during the trial on April 21st. During the hearing, Nana confronted the defendant directly, expressing her anger over the incident.

“Is this funny to you?” she said in court. “Are you enjoying yourself—committing crimes and walking around free? Look me in the eye. Is it fun?”

Speaking about the emotional toll of the break-in, Nana revealed that the incident left her with lasting trauma.

“I thought I was okay,” she said. “But it remained as trauma in my life. I just prayed for this case to be resolved as quickly as possible.”

Following the hearing, Nana shared a message with fans through a communication platform, explaining that seeing the defendant again stirred up strong emotions.

“I was so shocked and angry when I saw his face that I couldn’t control my emotions,” she wrote. “But I said everything I had wanted to say, and I feel relieved now. I have no regrets about what I said or did.”

She reassured fans that she was doing well and expressed hope that the legal proceedings would soon come to an end.

Nana later took to social media, writing, “I hope he pays for all of his malicious crimes,” alongside the phrase “you reap what you sow.”
