Lee Jun Young is gearing up for one of the biggest acting challenges of his career in JTBC’s upcoming drama Reborn Rookie.
The upcoming weekend drama follows Kang Yong Ho, the chairman of a major conglomerate, who unexpectedly begins a second life after his soul ends up inside another man’s body following an accident.
Lee Jun Young plays Hwang Jun Hyun, a promising former soccer player whose life changes completely after becoming possessed by the soul of chairman Kang Yong Ho, played by Son Hyun Joo.
The actor said the body-swap setup was what first drew him to the project.
“The idea of portraying both Hwang Jun Hyun and Kang Yong Ho within one character felt like an incredibly exciting challenge as an actor,” Lee Jun Young shared. “The script was also so entertaining that I chose the project without hesitation.”

According to the production team, Lee Jun Young put particular focus on differentiating the two personalities despite sharing the same physical appearance onscreen.
To capture the chairman’s personality after the soul swap, the actor closely studied Son Hyun Joo’s tone, speech patterns and emotional delivery. “I carefully observed his way of speaking and acting so I could portray it naturally,” he said. “I also watched many of his previous projects while preparing.”
Lee Jun Young added that viewers can expect a wide emotional range from the drama, from heavier moments to intense suspense.
“The biggest fun point will probably be the unexpected situations Kang Yong Ho faces after entering Choisung Group in Hwang Jun Hyun’s body,” he said. “I hope viewers enjoy riding the wave of emotions we created together.”
Reborn Rookie premieres May 30th at 10:40 PM KST.
