Netflix’s new series The Art of Sarah is off to a strong start, landing at No. 3 on the Global Top 10 (Non-English TV) in its first week of release.
The series, which premiered on February 13th, recorded 3.8 million views within just three days and entered the Top 10 in 38 countries. It also ranked No. 1 in markets including South Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, underscoring its fast-growing global appeal.
The Art of Sarah follows Sarah Kim, a woman who longs to become something extraordinary even if it means building a life on a lie, and Moo Gyeong, the man determined to uncover the truth behind her. The layered mystery and emotionally driven performances from Shin Hye Sun and Lee Jun Hyuk have drawn strong praise from both critics and viewers.
Korean media have highlighted the show’s immersive storytelling and suspenseful pacing that only heighten the mystery. International outlets have called it “an intriguing, multilayered mystery about a woman who built a luxurious life from a complex lie and the cop that figures those lies out” (Decider) and “a non-linear story of revenge, social inequity, and the power of performed identity that keeps viewers guessing until the very end” (Time).
Viewers have also responded enthusiastically, praising its tight script and unpredictable twists, as well as the chemistry and range shown by the two leads.
Alongside the buzz, Netflix has released behind-the-scenes and production stills showcasing the drama’s lavish set design.
Director Kim Jin Min said Boudoir was chosen for its ability to capture “wealth, beauty and even a sense of illusion at a glance,” symbolizing the glamorous life Sarah longs for. Costumes by Jo Sang Kyung, known for her work on Squid Game, further elevate that contrast, helping define each of Sarah’s identities. Shin Hye Sun shared that she approached the roles with distinct tones—one deliberately plain, another “pure and restrained,” and Sarah Kim herself “bold and glamorous.”
The Art of Sarah is now streaming on Netflix.
