Six years after Crash Landing on You became a global hit, its filming location in Switzerland is still attracting huge crowds.
The Washington Post covered the continued popularity of Iseltwald on February 5th. Fans keep visiting the wooden pier on Lake Brienz, where one of the most emotional scenes of the show was filmed.
This is the spot where Ri Jeong Hyeok (played by Hyun Bin) played a heartfelt piano tune during his time in Switzerland. Yoon Se Ri (Son Ye Jin) happened to overhear it, linking their fates long before they officially met.
The location is still a popular spot despite the years passing. Tourists visiting last October had to wait over two hours just to get a photo on the pier. The local tourism board says that since travel restrictions eased in 2022, up to 1,000 visitors come to the small village each day, even though it has a population of just around 400.
The village installed a turnstile at the pier to manage the crowds in 2023. Visitors must now pay 5 Swiss Francs ($5.70) to access the photo spot
The fee has generated significant revenue for the community, bringing in about $307,000 in 2023. These funds support maintenance like waste disposal and restroom upkeep to manage the influx of tourists. However, crowding remains an issue as many visitors still try to avoid the fee by taking photos from the side.
Crash Landing on You remains a major cultural phenomenon, with stars Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin continuing to captivate fans around the world.
