Lee Je Hoon is back as the Taxi Driver.
SBS’s upcoming Friday–Saturday drama Taxi Driver 3—based on the webtoon of the same name—follows a secretive taxi company called Rainbow Transport and driver Kim Do Gi, who delivers revenge on behalf of victims failed by the system. The first two seasons became major hits, with Season 2 ranking No. 5 among all Korean dramas in 2023 (21% peak ratings) and winning Best Drama Series at the 28th Asian Television Awards.
Ahead of the new season’s premiere, Lee Je Hoon shared his thoughts in an interview on October 30th. “It’s not easy for a Korean drama to reach Season 3, so I’m deeply moved and honored as an actor,” he said. “Every time I hear that viewers are waiting for the next story, I gain strength. I believe we’ve come this far because of their continued love and anticipation.”

All five original members of the Rainbow team—Kim Eui Sung, Pyo Ye Jin, Jang Hyuk Jin, and Bae Yoo Ram—are returning. The actor shared, “I’m thrilled we’re all together again. When Season 3 was confirmed, I remember congratulating each other in our group chat. Now that chat is mostly about food and baseball—it feels like a real family.”
Lee also reflected on the symbolic weight of his character. The name Kim Do Gi has become synonymous with justice, with comments like “Send Kim Do Gi” appearing online whenever a real-life tragedy or injustice occurs. “I’ve seen those comments myself,” he said. “It’s humbling to know that Kim Do Gi has come to represent justice. It makes me feel an even greater sense of responsibility as I play him.”

Still, he admitted that returning for a third season came with pressure. “I was happy to hear the news but also felt pressured to show a more upgraded version of Kim Do Gi—with new alter egos and action sequences,” he said. “I hope this season delivers more color, excitement, and fun.”
As for what to watch for this time around, Lee teased, “Our teamwork is tighter than ever, and there are hidden upgrades throughout the story. In episodes 3 and 4, there’s a persona called ‘Dumb Doki,’ who’s really cute and funny—I had a great time filming those scenes, hoping viewers will love him as much as I do.”
Taxi Driver 3 premieres in November on SBS.
