The director of music video for “DAMDADI” by producer R.Tee and i-dle’s Jeon Soyeon has issued an apology after facing accusations of plagiarism.

The controversy began when fans on social media started pointing out striking similarities between the “DAMDADI” video and a music video by French singer Yseult. As side-by-side comparisons went viral, global music fans demanded an explanation. The situation escalated when Yseult herself commented on the issue, calling the similarities a “disgusting copy and paste.”

On October 14th, the video’s director, Hong Min Ho of Achilles Film, addressed the allegations in a public statement. He admitted to the similarities, explaining that he was influenced by the French artist’s work.

“I have always held deep respect for Yseult and the directors she has worked with,” Hong explained. “That respect naturally influenced various visual ideas while working on this project. I sincerely apologize that some scenes were so directly similar to her original work, and I deeply regret if this caused any offense to Yseult and her team.”

Crucially, the director took full responsibility and cleared the musicians of any wrongdoing. “The concept and direction of this music video were entirely my responsibility,” he stated. “Jeon Soyeon and R.Tee had no involvement in the creative direction or the selection of references. They focused solely on the music and were not informed about the specific visual concepts.”
