K-pop legend and Running Man star Kim Jong Kook is tying the knot today, September 5th.
The beloved singer is set to marry his non-celebrity fiancée in a private ceremony at an undisclosed location in Seoul, attended only by close friends and family. His longtime friend and fellow TV star, Yoo Jae Suk, will officiate the wedding.
Kim Jong Kook first announced his marriage on August 18th in a heartfelt letter to his fans. “I’m getting married!” he wrote. He then joked about the timing, saying, “This year marks my 30th debut anniversary, and instead of making the album I wanted to, I met my better half. Still, I hope you will congratulate and support me.”
The news was a happy surprise for fans of the star, who debuted in 1995 with the group Turbo before launching a successful solo career. For years, he’s been known as one of Korea’s most famous bachelors, often talked about on his shows Running Man and My Little Old Boy.
Speculation about his marriage had been growing since May, when reports revealed he had purchased a 6.2 billion won ($4.6 million USD), 2,600-square-foot luxury villa in cash in Seoul’s Gangnam district.
