Kim Woo Bin and Suzy’s New Netflix Poster Has Fans Asking, “Is This a Fried Chicken Ad?”

The internet is buzzing after Netflix dropped the first poster for Genie, Make a Wish, a new fantasy rom-com starring Kim Woo Bin and Suzy.
On Wednesday, Netflix revealed the official poster and set a premiere date for October 3rd. The image shows a long-haired Genie (Kim Woo Bin) and the stoic Ga Young (Suzy) standing dramatically in the middle of a desert
The poster’s unique, campy vibe immediately set off a debate online, with fans trying to figure out the show’s tone. The reactions were swift and priceless: “Are they trying to be funny?”, “Is the genre comedy?”, “It feels different from what I expected,” “Woobin, what a surprise!”, “So it really is a Genie story,” “I came here after Uncontrollably Fond and burst out laughing watching the video,” “It looks like a food delivery commercial,” and “It has a Chinese drama vibe.”

Is Kang Dong Won a Lead or a Cameo? ‘Tempest’ Credit Sparks Debate

Tempest has sparked heated debate among fans over the credit placement of its star, Kang Dong Won, with many questioning how much screen time he will actually have.
Although Kang Dong Won was announced as the main co-lead alongside Jun Ji Hyun, fans were surprised to see him listed last with an “And” credit in the show’s titles. In both Hollywood and Korean productions, this placement often suggests a special appearance or a much smaller role than a lead character.
Director Kim Hee Won addressed the concerns, assuring fans that Kang Dong Won’s role would be substantial. “He has intense action scenes in every single episode, and his emotional storyline protecting Moon Ju is crucial,” he emphasized. “He made all the female staff members swoon.”
Kim also clarified that the credit placement decision was not his to make. “The credits were decided after discussions between the production company and Disney Plus, not by the director,” he explained. “You’ll understand the reason why when you see the final scene of episode 9.”
Tempest is set to premiere on September 10th.

A teaser for the upcoming MBC drama To the Moon is facing heavy backlash from international fans for being racially insensitive.
The drama, starring Lee Sun Bin and Ra Mi Ran, released a short clip showing its main cast dressed in what appears to be traditional Middle Eastern and South Asian attire while performing a comedic dance. While the scene is a parody of a decades-old South Korean ice cream commercial, that context was largely lost on global audiences.
International viewers quickly flooded social media with criticism, calling the teaser “racist clowning” and “cheap Aladdin cosplay.”
The backlash intensified as critics highlighted the cultural insensitivity. One user wrote, “They’re so careless with other cultures, but get offended the moment someone mistakes a Korean for Chinese or Japanese.”
Others specifically called out the use of forehead jewels resembling the Bindi, a sacred symbol in Hinduism. “That decoration is a Bindi, which has deep religious significance,” one commenter explained. “It’s deeply offensive when worn as a costume by non-Hindus. K-pop idols have been criticized for this exact thing in the past and even had to digitally edit them out of music videos.”
MBC has yet to release a statement on the controversy, but the official teaser is currently unavailable on YouTube. To the Moon is scheduled to premiere later this year.
