Lee Joon Gi is set to take on a unique role in upcoming drama Gyeongbokgung Detective Agency (literal translation).
MyDaily reported on July 23rd that Lee has been cast as the lead in this new series, which is described as a comedic action mystery. The story follows King Hyejong as he solves mysteries across palace walls. Along for the ride is Lee Seo, a rookie royal historian with a photographic memory and a book-learned sense of romance and social interaction.
Lee Joon Gi will portray King Hyejong, a ruler during a time of peace who’s used to getting everything he wants. Known for his sharp comments and flair for the dramatic, he’s not afraid to speak his mind, often to people’s faces, with a sarcastic bite that leaves a mark. His nonstop talking even earns him the nickname “Teacher Pogok,” a nickname that references a cuckoo bird and plays off his constant chatter.
The drama is being produced by Studio N, with writer So Min Seon behind the script.
