NewJeans’ Hyein left handwritten letters for fans on her birthday.
Hyein uploaded several photos of letters to the mhdhh_friends account on April 22nd, which she runs with the other NewJeans members.
The photos show Hyein’s handwritten replies directly written on letters she received from fans. In one note, she told a fan, “To be honest, I still feel like we haven’t done much for Bunnies (the fandom name). I think Bunnies have given us so much more,” expressing her gratitude.
To other fans, she wrote, “Knowing that such strong Bunnies are cheering for us gives me incredible strength. I was able to reflect once more on the important things in life that I never want to forget,” and “I believe we can grow even more by using this hardship as nourishment. Thank you so much for your encouraging words.”
Hyein also wrote a message addressed “To all Bunnies,” sharing her feelings with the entire fandom. She said, “Every single letter gave me strength and great comfort. Honestly, I wanted to write replies to each one. But I’m worried that some Bunnies might feel hurt if they didn’t receive a reply.”
She added, “I hope no one feels too sad. I treasure all Bunnies who support us equally.”
Meanwhile, NewJeans announced the termination of their exclusive contract with their agency ADOR in November last year and began independent activities under a new name, NJZ.
In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract and requested an injunction to preserve their status as the managing agency and to prevent NJZ from signing new advertising contracts.
The court granted the injunction in March, and NewJeans halted their independent activities. They appealed the court’s decision, but the appeal was also dismissed. The group is currently in the process of filing a further appeal.
