Kim Soo Hyun has finally addressed the persistent dating rumors with his Queen of Tears co-star Kim Ji Won, requesting fans to “just view dramas as dramas” through his fan communication platform Bubble on Friday.
The actor’s statement came in response to a subscriber’s message that read: “Please marry Ji Won soon and post lovestagrams. Go public with your relationship and show us more hints than you do now.”
Dating speculation between the two stars initially sparked in July 2023 when Kim Soo Hyun posted four selfies from his Asian tour fan meeting on his official account, only to swiftly delete three of them. Internet sleuths quickly noted similarities between the deleted photos’ composition and style with pictures Kim Ji Won had posted on her account four days earlier, leading to widespread dating rumors. However, many fans dismissed the speculation, pointing out that the black formal attire and photo compositions in question were commonplace.
At the time, both stars’ management companies maintained silence on the dating rumors.
The pair’s chemistry in tvN’s global hit weekend drama Queen of Tears further fueled fan speculation. The series made history by surpassing the previous ratings record held by Crash Landing on You to become tvN’s highest-rated drama to date.
