A former manager at Big Planet Made, the entertainment agency representing stars like Taemin and Lee Seung Gi, has come under fire for allegedly using celebrities’ personal contact information as collateral for illegal loans, causing a major scandal.
On the 16th, Big Planet Made’s parent company, One Hundred, revealed that the manager, identified as A, took out small loans from over 40 illegal loan companies, using the phone numbers stored in his mobile device as collateral. When Mr. A failed to repay the loans, these companies began contacting the individuals whose numbers were used, including celebrities, staff members, and other industry professionals, resulting in threats and harassment.
According to One Hundred, A allegedly provided around 1,200 phone numbers, which included not only current and former employees of Big Planet Made but also its high-profile clients. The potential for further harm is raising concerns, as the personal data of these stars may have been compromised.
Big Planet Made, co-founded by MC Mong and p_Arc Group’s Chairman Cha Ga Won, is home to several prominent figures, including singer-songwriter Lee Mu Jin, girl group VIVIZ, and TV personality Lee Soo Geun. The agency first became aware of the breach on September 30th and swiftly terminated A. However, the illegal lenders have continued to harass employees, prompting the agency to file a police report and pursue legal action.
The agency issued a public statement, explaining, “We realized this situation goes beyond an internal issue and have decided to disclose the full extent of the damage to prevent further victims. If anyone receives a call from these loan companies, please report it to the police immediately.”
They also expressed their sincere apologies to those affected, saying, “We deeply regret that personal information was leaked due to the actions of a former employee, and we will do everything we can to resolve this situation.”
