Go Min Si has revealed the intense process she underwent to lose weight for her role in Netflix’s new original series, The Frog.

During an interview on October 26th, Go Min Si, who stars in The Frog, shared her experience of preparing for the suspense thriller. The drama, directed by Mo Wan Il of The World of the Married, follows the lives of people whose peaceful existence is disrupted by the arrival of a mysterious guest in the middle of summer.

Go Min Si plays painter Yoo Seong Ah. Seong Ah spends a night at the remote pension run by Jeon Young Ha (Kim Yun Seok) and is captivated by its beauty. She returns a year later, setting off a chain of events that disrupts Young Ha’s once peaceful life.

Discussing her physical transformation for the role, Go Min Si said, “I lost a lot of weight. It was the lowest weight I’ve ever been in my life, around 43 kg.” She continued, “When I did ‘Sweet Home,’ I was about 46 kg, so I lost an additional 3 kilograms. I wanted my spine to be more visible to convey a raw, animalistic vibe, even if it was just for a moment in a quick cut. I wanted to show Seong Ah’s energy building up to a climax.”

She added, “I wanted my spine to look prominent and eerie. I think I lost about 5 to 6 kilograms from my original weight,” surprising many.

In The Frog, Go Min Si takes on a “wealthy” character for the first time. Reflecting on her previous roles, she said, “I’ve always done a lot of roles with blood makeup or played characters who were poor. This was the first time I got to deck myself up, and it was new and fun for me to see them captured in the scenes. I found a lot of joy in challenging myself with this type of work.”

The Frog was released on Netflix on the 23rd.
