The film Harbin has been officially invited to the Gala Presentations section of the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and has unveiled its international poster and trailer for the first time.

Set in 1909, Harbin is an espionage drama that depicts the intense pursuit and suspicion between those heading to Harbin for a singular purpose and those chasing them.

The 49th TIFF takes place from September 5th to September 15th, and Harbin will premiere its international poster and trailer during the event. The poster features the shadows of independence fighters Ahn Jung Geun (Hyun Bin), Woo Deok Soon (Park Jung Min), Kim Sang Hyun (Jo Woo Jin), and Mrs. Gong (Jeon Yeo Bin), with Ahn Jung Geun’s serious gaze drawing attention as he seems to focus on his target.

The international trailer showcases the depth of director Woo Min Ho’s experience, known for his work on The Man Standing Next and Inside Men. Ahn Jung Geun’s monologue, “I still have work to do. The leader of the Japanese wolves ravaging Korea. I must kill that old wolf at all costs,” hints at the harrowing tale of independence fighters battling for Korea’s freedom.

Harbin also marks the first collaboration between director Woo Min Ho and cinematographer Hong Kyung Pyo, renowned for his work on Snowpiercer, Parasite, and Deliver Us From Evil. The film’s stunning visuals, shot across Mongolia, Latvia, and South Korea, promise a vast cinematic journey on screen.

The international poster and trailer for Harbin will be featured on the official TIFF website, showcasing the aura of this rare Korean film set during the Japanese occupation to be invited to such a prestigious international festival.

Meanwhile, Harbin is set for its world premiere at TIFF and the domestic release later this year.
