Resident Playbook will unfortunately miss its original airdate this year due to scheduling issues caused by the ongoing 2024 South Korean doctors’ strike.

tvN reported today that the drama Thank You will take the timeslot of The Midnight Romance in Hagwon after its conclusion. Thank You is an office investigative drama about the chaotic teamwork of a cold-hearted audit team leader and his surprisingly kind team members as they tackle corruption within JU Construction. Starring Shin Ha Kyun, Lee Jung Ha, and Jin Goo, the drama is scheduled to premiere in early July.

With Thank You confirmed, the rest of tvN’s weekend lineup for the year is nearly complete. Viewers can expect Golden Boy featuring Jung Hae In and Jung So Min next, followed by Jeong Nyeon starring a powerhouse cast including Kim Tae Ri, Shin Ye Eun, Ra Mi Ran, and Moon So Ri. The year is likely to close out with Jung Yu Mi and Ju Ji Hoon’s new romance drama penned by Love In The Moonlight writer.

Resident Playbook, which was originally scheduled to air on weekends in the second half of this year, is now expected to meet viewers next year. That also means it’s unlikely to fill the Monday-Tuesday slot after Player 2: Master of Swindlers wraps up.

So, what about Resident Playbook? This spin-off of the popular Hospital Playlist follows the lives and friendships of professors and interns at a primary hospital. Go Yoon Jung, Shin Si Ah, Han Ye Ji, Kang You Seok, and Jung Jun Won are all set to appear.

Originally, Resident Playbook was expected for weekends in the first half of 2024. While the exact timing wasn’t announced, a May premiere seemed likely as a follow-up to Queen of Tears as tvN released a teaser at the beginning of the year.

However, concerns mounted about the drama’s original broadcast window with the doctors’ strike dragging on. To address this, tvN announced a scheduling change, stating that it wasn’t locked in for the first half of the year and would now air sometime in the second half.
