Seo Kang Joon and Ahn Eun Jin are stepping into the roles of longtime partners whose relationship begins to shift in KBS’ upcoming romance drama A Love Other than Yours (literal title).
The new weekend series follows a couple who have been together for 10 years and suddenly find themselves confronting unfamiliar feelings within a relationship they thought they knew inside and out.
KBS released photos and a behind-the-scenes video from the drama’s first table read on August 5th. The session, held in March, brought together co-directors Hwang Seung Gi and Lee Ga Ram, writer Yoo Su Ji and cast members Seo, Ahn, Lee Joo Ahn, Jo A Ram, and more.
“The actors brought a real sense of life to their characters from the very first read,” the production team said. “As they exchanged lines and built the romance naturally, everyone in the room found themselves completely drawn in.”
Seo stars as Namkoong Ho, an assistant manager on Hunmin Confectionery’s TF Snack Team 3. Devoted to his girlfriend Lee Mi Do for a decade, he begins to waver as love and trust are put under pressure.
Ahn plays Mi Do, a film director who has achieved her dream but finds herself struggling against the realities of the industry. At the reading, the two actors reportedly captured the easy familiarity of a couple who know each other better than anyone, along with the raw back-and-forth that comes from sharing 10 years of history.
Lee Joo Ahn plays Han Tae Seung, an ambitious attorney for the film company that abruptly fired Mi Do. Though he initially pressures her with a cold, practical approach, his growing interest in her is expected to complicate the story.
Jo A Ram stars as Park Soo Ah, a junior employee at Hunmin Confectionery who unexpectedly enters Namkoong Ho’s life. Beneath her cool first impression, the character has a warmer side that gradually comes to light.
Together, the four characters form a tangled relationship shaped by comfort, attraction, loyalty and uncertainty.
“From the first rehearsal, every actor slipped naturally into character and brought out the grounded romantic tone we were aiming for,” the producers said. “Viewers can expect the familiarity and excitement of a 10-year relationship, the warmth of family and the very real dynamics between coworkers.”
A Love Other than Yours premieres September 12th at 9:20 PM KST on KBS and will also stream worldwide on Amazon Prime Video in more than 240 countries.
