Netflix has greenlit the family action comedy Two Cops and Five Kids, starring Cha Tae Hyun and Uhm Ji Won as a married couple raising five children.
The film follows Dong Sik, a detective who is left to care for the couple’s five kids when his wife, Kyung Ah, leaves on what appears to be a vacation. Her trip is actually a covert mission, and the entire family soon becomes caught up in an operation to take down a criminal organization.
Cha will play Dong Sik, a violent crimes detective preparing for a promotion exam when he suddenly finds himself handling the children alone. The actor is known for films including Scandal Makers and Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds, as well as the Disney Plus series Moving and the reality show Unexpected Business.
Uhm stars as Kyung Ah, Dong Sik’s wife and a former police officer who has spent the past 10 years raising their children. Hoping to return to work, she accepts an offer to join a secret National Intelligence Service operation. Her recent credits include the Netflix series Dear Hongrang and When Life Gives You Tangerines, as well as Birthcare Center and Little Women.
The movie marks the first time Cha and Uhm have worked together. Their five children will be played by Do Young Seo as Bom, Kim Na Eun as Yeo Reum, Jung Han Sol as Ga Eul, Shim Ji An as Gyeo Ul and Kim Ra Hee as Sae Bom.
Kim Jong Hyun, whose credits include Mr. Gam’s Victory and Take Off 2, will direct. The film is expected to blend action and comedy with the chaos and warmth of a large family.
Two Cops and Five Kids will be released exclusively on Netflix.
