Hwang Ui Jo’s lawyer said in a statement on February 21st that he is feeling heartbroken after learning of the betrayal by his family. “We will strictly respond to the unfounded rumors that turn the victim into a perpetrator,” the lawyer stated, referring to rumors accusing him of having an inappropriate relationship with Lee.

Lee’s sudden confession, contradicting her previous claims of hacking, is shrouded in controversy. Her “letter of reflection” reportedly expresses regret but claims the intention was to “discipline” Hwang for being unfaithful to his spouse. She explained she never meant to ruin Hwang’s athletic career or harm the woman in the video.

However, the victim vehemently rejects Lee’s narrative, calling it a ploy to protect Hwang and accusing it of inflicting secondary harm. The letter mentions editing the video to blur the victim’s face, but the victim’s side sees it as a desperate attempt to support Lee’s denial of filming her without her consent. They emphasize that such a letter shouldn’t influence the sentencing of Lee.

While Lee has confessed, Hwang’s involvement, the motivation behind the filming, and the true extent of harm remain in question. The prosecution’s investigation is ongoing, and further developments are expected to shed light on this matter.
