Former FTISLAND member turned actor Song Seung Hyun recently made headlines with a sudden retirement announcement on the 15th, and now he’s set to walk down the aisle.
According to entertainment insiders on the 19th, Song Seung Hyun is preparing to marry his long-time partner this coming June. The buzz is that the wedding will be held at a renowned venue in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, and preparations are in full swing.
Post-nuptials, Song plans to move to the United States to take over his future father-in-law’s restaurant business, embarking on a completely new phase of his life. A source revealed, “Song Seung Hyun’s retirement announcement was deeply tied to his desire to live a normal life in the U.S. after getting married.”
Song himself hinted at this new direction on his Instagram, stating, “After much contemplation, I have decided to leave the entertainment industry and possibly leave Korea to start a new chapter in my life,” adding, “While there are no easy tasks or simple relationships in any field, I aim to embrace a healthy and disciplined new life that I can tackle day by day.”
Even FTISLAND members have reportedly expressed their understanding and support for Song’s new journey. The source added, “Despite having little contact with the members since leaving the band in 2019 after his contract with FNC Entertainment ended, it’s said they’re well aware of his life updates.” However, their attendance at the wedding, however, remains undecided.
Since debuting as FTISLAND’s guitarist following former member Oh Won Bin’s departure in 2009, Song Seung Hyun captured hearts with his tall stature, handsome looks, outstanding musical talent, and unique charm on variety shows. After leaving FTISLAND and his agency in 2019, he pivoted to acting, served in the military, and returned to star in the BL web drama Oh! My Assistant in 2022, but had yet to make a significant mark in the acting world before announcing his retirement.
