LE SSERAFIM achieved a staggering 110 billion won (about $97 million) in revenue in Japan this year.

According to the Oricon First Half Ranking 2023, LE SSERAFIM has topped the sales rankings for new artists. Established in 2018, this ranking considers the total sales of singles, albums, streams, and music DVDs to determine the position.

In a statement on its official website, Oricon revealed that “LE SSERAFIM recorded a total of 1.18 billion yen (about $8.2 million) in sales during the tabulation period. They are the first female artists to surpass one billion yen in sales in the ‘New Artist Ranking.'”

Their Japanese debut single FEARLESS, released in January, significantly contributed to their win. This album debuted at number one on the Oricon Weekly Singles Ranking and Weekly Combined Singles Ranking (as of February 6th), breaking the record for the highest first-week sales of a debut album by a K-pop girl group in Japan. The single also sold over 500,000 copies as a foreign female artist’s debut single, earning a “Double Platinum” from the Japan Record Association.

The title track “ANTIFRAGILE” from their second mini-album released in October last year surpassed 100 million streams on the Oricon Weekly Streaming Ranking (as of April 10th). In May, their first full-length album UNFORGIVEN succeeded in consecutive box office hits by achieving triple crown status in the Weekly Album Ranking, Weekly Digital Album Ranking, and Weekly Combined Album Ranking (as of May 15th).

LE SSERAFIM shared, “We want to thank FEARNOT and everyone who listened to our songs. We ask for your anticipation for our second Japanese single UNFORGIVEN to be released on August 23rd.”
