Idols these days are more than just performers on stage. They’re expanding their horizons and revealing a whole new side of themselves off-stage. It’s amazing how their charming and sometimes clumsy moments on reality TV shows have become a huge hit with viewers. So, let’s buckle up and get ready to meet the top five idols who are taking the entertainment world by storm.

Each BTS member has been keeping busy with their own projects since taking a break from group activities. V brought the excitement to tvN’s Jinny’s Kitchen as a new intern at a Korean restaurant in Mexico. He dove into tasks like dishwashing and serving with so much enthusiasm and even got involved in creating the menu with a cheerful spirit. His interactions with fellow intern Choi Woo Shik added a hilarious and competitive vibe to the show. When a customer recognized him, V jokingly said, “Once I’m back in Korea, I’m gonna audition and sing at the Peach Festival!” Here’s a fun fact: V actually took part in the Peach Festival back in 2013. And on the last day of filming, V showed his gratitude by serving up delicious dishes to his dedicated fans who waited outside.

Ahn Yujin

Ahn Yujin from IVE appeared initially as a shy girl when she made her appearance at Earth Arcade. She would simply smile and lower her head without saying much, watching Mimi and Lee Eun Ji perform “LOVE DIVE” on the show. She always ended up in funny situations, not knowing whether to be a proper idol or let loose as an entertainer. This created a hilarious on-screen persona as she struggled with her own identity crisis. In certain episodes, she stole the spotlight by taking the lead in choreographing the Random Play Dance, making everyone focus on her during the exciting finale. Nowadays, on the show, she’s hilariously known as “Crazy Eyes” because of her unstoppable obsession with games and food. In the show’s second season premiere, she hilariously transformed into Go Eun Chan from Coffee Prince with spot-on accuracy. As a big fan of Eun Chan’s short haircut, she mischievously pleaded with producer Na Yeong Seok, “Please, work your magic and convince my label to let me chop my locks!,” which had everyone bursting into laughter.

Yena

Yena is currently juggling her solo album activities and TV commitments. She joined the TVING original series Girls’ High School Mystery Class, where the cast uncovers the secrets of their school. Yena stands out as the lively and clever member, forming a special friendship with the eldest member, Park Ji Yoon. She is also appearing in ENA’s HMLYCP, a show where the cast competes in challenging missions to furnish their dream-like houses. She shares fantastic chemistry with Kim Chae Won, her former IZ*ONE groupmate.

Key

Key has stood out the most on tvN’s Amazing Saturday, which recently celebrated its fifth anniversary. Since 2018, his keen observation skills have earned him the most spotlight, as the show gives special moments to those who excel at guessing song lyrics. He’s so good at the game that everyone started calling him “Choreography Wiki” as he effortlessly aced all the questions and danced like he had every move stored in his brain. Currently, he is also a regular cast member on MBC’s I Live Alone. He is a proud owner of two dogs with the masterful ability to grow green onions in his backyard like a true veggie wizard. Nowadays, he’s taking on the challenge of becoming a certified Korean food chef. Despite living alone, his laughter and warmth spread joy to everyone around him.

Mijoo

Mijoo is the funniest member of Lovelyz, known for her hilarious poses that caught the attention of photographers and fans during music show appearances. She always loved doing these fun poses and dreamed of becoming an entertainer, and her dream came true when she joined tvN’s Sixth Sense, hosted by the famous MC Yoo Jae Suk. Her funny antics had everyone laughing, and MC Yoo himself praised her, saying, “Mijoo is amazing! I knew she was the right one!” But she’s not just funny—she’s also talented. On MBC’s Hangout With Yoo, she showed off her singing skills by covering Free Style’s “Y” with Jae Suk and Haha. And as the main dancer, she impressed everyone with her powerful and creative improvised dance moves.

Editor Seo Hayne: I like actors as they faithfully lead through their long running-time. I also like idols who accomplish everything on stage within 3 minutes.
