Hyun Bin is showing fans a side of himself they don’t often get to see.
The actor is set to make his first full-fledged variety show appearance in his 23-year career on SBS’ Whenever Possible, where he’ll join Woo Do Hwan for a series of games and missions alongside hosts Yoo Jae Suk and Yoo Yeon Seok.
A preview for the upcoming episode aired at the end of the show’s August 25th broadcast, and it didn’t take long for Hyun Bin’s competitive streak to come out.
Known for his calm, composed image on screen and in interviews, Hyun Bin became completely absorbed once the games began. In one challenge, he carefully handled a set of tiny pieces while Woo watched his every move with an equally tense expression.
But when the production team urged him to shout “Challenge!” before making his move, Hyun Bin’s concentration finally cracked.
“I hate challenges!” he exclaimed, drawing laughs from everyone around him.
Yoo Jae Suk was quick to point out just how seriously Hyun Bin was taking the game. “Hyun Bin’s palms are sweating,” he noted.
The actor’s competitive side continued in the next challenge, where he could be seen throwing his whole body into the game. The teaser even promised “the most thrilling victory,” keeping the final result under wraps.
While Hyun Bin has previously appeared on talk and observational programs including You Quiz on the Block and The Manager, Whenever Possible marks his first traditional variety show centered around games and missions.
The preview also offered a glimpse of his easy chemistry with Woo, his Made in Korea co-star.
Hyun Bin and Woo are currently preparing for the release of Made in Korea Season 2 on Disney Plus.
Their episode of Whenever Possible airs September 1st at 9 PM KST on SBS.
