Gong Yoo exuded his charisma in the new pictorial for ELLE Korea.
After the photoshoot, the actor sat down for an interview to talk about his acting life, his love for fishing, and more.
When asked about the time he confirmed his tendencies and preferences in acting, Goog Yoo chose the movie Silenced without hesitation. “The movie started with me,” he recalled. “Actors are the ones who are chosen one way or another. But after doing Silenced, I gained confidence. I completed the task I chose for myself, and the fact that I had created a project that conveyed my sincerity to many people gave me a confidence boost.”
“Actors usually find compromises and strategize from a list given to them,” Gong Yoon went on. “But as for Silenced, there were no splitting hairs. All I wanted to do was tell this story to the world, so the excitement was overwhelming.”
The actor is well-known for his love for fishing. “I’m a bit pessimistic and cynical about the days to come,” he shared. “I usually have a lot of curiosity and delusion, but fishing simplifies my thoughts. If I don’t catch anything in the middle of the ocean, my eyes go out of focus and I just get dazed. And I like that moment (laughs).”
Lastly, Gong Yoo added, “Now, I feel a little more free and brave. Receiving so much love from the public is such a grateful and precious thing, but I want to be free from box office success and commerciality. I want to break down the boundaries of the things I couldn’t do even if I wanted to, and you know, follow the path of an actor like I’ve always dreamed since I was a child.”
