Netflix released behind-the-scenes stills of 20th Century Girl.
Set in 1999, 20th Century Girl follows a teen girl named Bora (played by Kim Yoo Jung) who keeps close tabs on a boy in school on behalf of her deeply smitten best friend, Yeon Do (Roh Yoon Seo).
The behind-the-scenes stills capture the friendly atmosphere of the filming set. Kim Yoo Jung was born in 1999, the year the film is set. She said, “I felt grateful to be able to experience that time indirectly. The process of working with the director was so much fun, and it left a good memory in me.” Byeon Woo Seok also shared what it was like working with director Bang Woo Ri. He stated, “I talked a lot with the director about how and to what extent I should express emotions of Poong Woon Ho.”
Kim Yoo Jung also talked about how all cast members got along both on and off the set. She shared, “We made a lot of great memories while filming. We went to all the good restaurants and took pictures of each other as if we were on a trip.”
Netflix also unveiled photos of Gong Myung and Ong Seong Wu, who joined the cast as surprising cameos. Gong Myung appeared as Bora’s first blind date, Jeong Woon Ho, and Ong Seong Wu starred in the series as Poong Woon Ho’s younger brother, Joseph.
According to FlixPatrol, 20th Century Girl became the fifth-most-watched Netflix movie in the world.
