Joseon psychiatrist Yoo Se Poong will be delivering warm healing to the viewers this August.
tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday drama Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se Poong (literal title) tells the story of Yoo Se Poong, a genius doctor who can’t perform acupuncture, becoming the real “mind doctor” upon meeting eccentric widow Seo Eun Woo and an oddball doctor Gye Ji Han. Produced as a seasonal drama, Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se Poong is based on the novel of the same name that won the Excellence Award in the 2016 Korea Story Contest.
Above all, the stellar cast heightens anticipations. First, Kim Min Jae plays Yoo Se Poong, who can read people’s hearts but can’t perform acupuncture. With his good looks and excellent skills, he was the best and the most-favored acupuncturist in the palace. But after getting swept in an accident, he can no longer perform acupuncture.
Kim Hyang Gi turns into Seo Eun Woo, a widow who is good at reading people’s pain. Born as a daughter of a provincial aristocratic family, Seo Eun Woo has keen observation skills and undying compassion for people. Despite her reluctance to marry, she was married off and even was put in the danger of becoming an “involuntary widow who vowed never to marry again.” But her life turns upside down when she meets Yoo Se Poong.
Lastly, Kim Sang Kyung plays oddball doctor Gye Ji Han who loves money. At first glance, he seems like a grumpy, materialistic man, but deep down, he’s a very decent guy. He leads Yoo Se Poong on the path of becoming the true “mind doctor.”
The production team shared, “The synergy of the actors who will complete the unique worldview of ‘Joseon psychiatrist’ is the key feature of the show. It’ll be fun and thrilling to watch the character go beyond the healing of the body to the healing of the mind.”
Meanwhile, Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se Poong will premiere on August 1st at 10:30 PM KST.
