Lee Min Ho and BTS Voted the Most Beloved South Korean Stars

The most popular South Korean superstar title went to none other than Lee Min Ho and BTS this year.

According to the ‘2022 Overseas Hallyu Report’ survey conducted by Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Foundation for International Culture Exchange (KOFICE), BTS became the most popular K-pop artist of the year. Out of 4,679 respondents who voted for their favorite K-pop singers, 26.7 percent chose BTS as their favorite K-Pop star, and 10.4 percent cast their votes to BLACKPINK. IU came in third with 2.8 percent, and the fourth place went to BLACKPINK’s Lisa as she got 2.4 percent of the votes. Psy and TWICE landed sixth with 2.2 percent.

Meanwhile, 8500 people voted for their favorite actor, and Lee Min Ho topped the list for two years in a row with 9.3 percent. Hyun Bin came in second with 3.1 percent, and Gong Yoo landed in third with 2.8 percent, followed by Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki each with 2.2 percent.

Per dramas, Squid Game and Crash Landing On You nabbed first and second places with 21.3 percent and 2.2 percent of the vote. In addition, Parasite and Train to Busan became the first and second most popular Korean movie of all time, earning 10.3 percent and 6.8 percent of the vote respectively.
