EVERGLOW’s Yiren will take a break from activities in Korea.
On January 9th, Yue Hua Entertainment posted a notice on the official fan website that Yiren will be returning to China.
The statement reads, “Yiren has to go to China from mid-January to the end of February due to her academic status. She will be taking a break there for a while to spend time with her family, whom she hasn’t seen in a long time due to COVID-19.”
Yue Hua Entertainment added that during the stated time, the group will continue their activities with five members and carry out the schedule as planned.
Back on January 2nd, EVERGLOW held a fan meeting and greeted their fans for the New Year. While the other members bowed down in the Korean way of traditional greeting, Yiren greeted the fans with a Chinese style greeting.
This sparked controversy among the fans, with some criticizing that it was inappropriate to insist on using Chinese style while promoting in Korea. Previously, Yiren had been embroiled in a controversy over her support for cotton produced in China’s Xinjiang region accused of using forced labor.
