The new Netflix original series Squid Game depicts a story of people who became the players of a mysterious survival game with a whopping 40-million-dollar (45.6 billion KRW) prize at stake.
And in it, Jung Ho Yeon plays Kang Sae Byeok (No. 067). The number of her Instagram followers has tripled from 400,000 to 1.2 million right after the release of Squid Game.
At the press conference held on the 15th, she shared, “I was preparing for fashion week as a model in New York, but my agency asked me to tape an audition video. I remember how I only read the scripts except for the time I ate food. I sent the video in, and the director contacted me, asking me to meet in person. So I dropped everything and flew in right away.”
One thing you might find interesting about Jung Ho Yeon is that she’s actor Lee Dong Hwi’s girlfriend. The two went public with their relationship six years ago.
Meanwhile, Squid Game became the first K-drama to rank first on Netflix Top 10 TV Shows in the United States (September 21st). The previous record was held by Sweet Home, which climbed up to third place last year.
