According to People’s Daily, Kris Wu has been arrested by Beijing police as of August 16th. Since the 31st of last month, Wu has been criminally detained at the Chaoyang Branch.

In this regard, the article reported, “This proves that even a top celebrity can fall apart in a blink of an eye if they break the law. If you put greed under fame, the result will be self-destruction. The more famous you become, the more ethical and moral you need to be. And the more fans you have, the better role model you have to be.”

Meanwhile, Wu got caught up in a scandal following the revelations of Du Meizhu, who claims herself to be his ex-girlfriend. According to Du, Kris used auditions and fan meetings as baits to lure girls into sex. In particular, she stated that there are more than eight victims of Kris’s misdeed, of whom two were minors.

Afterwards, the singer vehemently refuted her claims through his Weibo. “But just because I stay silent, that doesn’t mean that I’ll tolerate the people that spread rumors,” he wrote. “I have never committed a crime using drugs, so all my fans and rest assured. If what I’m saying is false, I will take legal responsibility.”

However, Wu was arrested for rape on July 31st. Since then, Wu and his agency’s social media accounts have all been deleted. On top of that, the advertising industry has also turned its back on the artist. More than five companies have terminated the contract with Wu. And on Chinese OTT platforms, all Ku’s projects have been scrubbed as well.
