Jo In Sung challenged himself to play a new character in the movie Escape from Mogadishu.

Escape from Mogadishu depicts details of the dangerous escape plan of North and South Korean ambassadors during the Somali Civil War in the 1990s. For the film, Jo In Sung joined hands with director Ryu Seung Wan and actor Kim Yoon Seok for the first time.

Counselor Kang Dae Jin, played by Jo In Sung, is a former agent of ANSP (Agency for National Security Planning) sent to the Korean embassy in Somalia. His main job is to monitor and manage the staff. And he is a clever person who knows when to cooperate and when to keep an eye on them.

His charm shines even brighter in a desperate situation. When everyone is in a panic, he uses his keen judgment to secure safety solutions and exercises his instinct to escape the warzone. You can see a glimpse of his nature in the released photos.

Regarding his role, Jo In Sung shared, “The first time I read the script, I liked the fact that he wasn’t a typical ANSP agent. At first, I thought he was a pretentious character who acts only by instinct because he is ANSP. But while working with Kim Yoon Seok, I discovered unexpected things about my character. So in the end, Kang Dae Jin was able to become a character with lots of surprises.”

Escape from Mogadishu will be released on July 28th.
