Choi Min Sik and Ryu Jun Yeol Joins New Historical Film

Choi Min Sik and Ryu Jun Yeol will come together for the new movie titled The Owl (literal title).

According to the film industry on the 15th, Choi Min Sik and Ryu Jun Yeol have recently decided to join The Owl and coordinate details. The two actors last worked together in the 2017 film Heart Blackened.

The Owl is a new historical film that revolves around the death of Crown Prince Sohyeon, who has returned from the Qing dynasty during the Injo of Joseon era. Ahn Tae Jin, an assistant director of King and the Clown, will helm the production.

Choi Min Sik takes on the role of Injo. He will return to the big screen after Mathematician in Wonderland and Heaven: To the Land of Happiness. He was initially scheduled to work with Shin Min Ah in the Korean remake of Intern, directed by Kang Yoon Sung. �But the production has been scrubbed when Warner Bros Korea pulled out its business from Korea. Since then, Choi was in talks for Kang Yoon Sung’s new TV series Casino. However, Choi chose The Owl first as the production has been delayed.

Ryu Jun Yeol will play a blind man who makes his living from acupuncture. He is currently working on the last-minute filming of Choi Dong Hoon’s Alien (working title). Once he finishes the film, he will star in director Huh Jin Ho’s first TV drama, No Longer Human, and continue his activities with The Owl.

After finishing major pasting and pre-production, The Owl plans to start filming in the second half of this year.
