Spotify and Kakao Entertainment Reach an Agreement – Kakao’s K-pop Songs Back on Spotify

Spotify and Kakao Entertainment Corp. (previously Kakao M) have announced that they have met an agreement. As a result, Kakao’s content will be available again on the platform across the world.

Kakao Entertainment shared, “We finished negotiating with Spotify regarding the music distribution and decided to resume supplying music to global services including Korea.”

“Through this collaboration with Spotify, we expect that it will be an opportunity for more music fans around the world to meet our artists and enjoy K-pop,” Kakao added. “We will continue to do our best to protect the rights of creators, and generate a stable ecosystem for creators.”

In the same vein, Spotify mentioned, “We will be able to provide the music of Kakao Ent.’s artists to not only 345 million Spotify users in 170 countries but also to global fans.

“Following with Spotify’s mission to connect artists with fans around the world and present all the music to users around the world, we are pleased to provide over 70 million tracks and 4 billion playlists to Korean listeners,” they continued. “In the future, Spotify will continue working with artists, labels, and rights to have a positive impact on Korea’s music streaming ecosystem.”
