The film Minari received nominations a total of 9 nominations at the Chicago Film Critics Association (CFCA) Awards and Florida Film Critics Circle (FFCC) Awards.

Minari has been on the rise for the Oscars, as it was recently nominated for CFCA and FFCC Awards. For CFCA Awards, the movie won three nominations -BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS, BEST ACTOR and MILOS STEHLIK AWARD FOR PROMISING FILMMAKER, while for FFCC Awards, the film won nominations in 6 categories: BEST PICTURE, BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS, BEST ENSEMBLE, BEST DIRECTOR, BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY and BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM.

In particular, as Youn Yuh Jung was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at both awards, her chance of winning the Oscar trophy got even bigger, raising much anticipation. The winners of the 2020 CFCA and FFCC Awards will be announced on Dec 21.

Director Lee Isaac Chung’s Minari follows a Korean-American family that moves to a tiny Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream. Steven Yeun, Han Ye Ri, Alan Kim, Noel Kate Cho, Youn Yuh Jung, and Will Patton starred in the film.

Will Han Yeri and Youn Yuh Jung be nominated for Oscars for the first time as Korean actors? And will Minari, which has swept the attention within the film industry, be nominated for the Best Picture?
