Blackpink Becomes the First K-pop Girl Group to Win Gaon Chart’s “Million” with ‘THE ALBUM’

Blackpink became the first K-pop girl group to win Gaon Chart’s “Million” mark when the cumulative sales for their first full album THE ALBUM exceeded 1.25 million.

According to Gaon Chart, Blackpink’s THE ALBUM, released on Oct 6, recently joined its “MILLION Album” category.

THE ALBUM, the first full album released 4 years after the group’s debut, has surpassed 1 million pre-orders, proving Blackpink’s influence even before their official comeback. On top of that, they made a new history in K-pop girl group history when they sold 1.2 million copies in just 20 days.

Blackpink achieved platinum in September with its special edition of How You Like That. The group now has a total of 8 platinum badges: in album category with Square Up and Kill This Love; download category with “Forever Young” and “DDU-DU DDU-DU”; streaming category with “Forever Young,” “Solo” and “DDU-DU DDU-DU.”
