On Nov 24 (local time), the Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 63rd Grammys.

I’m sure ARMY around the world were in seventh heaven when their beloved group was listed as one of the nominees for the “Best Pop Duo/ Group Performance.” With this, BTS became the first K-pop group to be nominated for the Grammys, leaving another footmark in K-pop history.

For the trophy, BTS will be competing with J Balvin, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny & Tainy [UN DIA (ONE DAY)]; Justin Bieber Featuring Quavo [INTENTIONS]; Lady Gaga with Ariana Grande [RAIN ON ME]; Taylor Swift Featuring Bon Iver [EXILE].

With this glorious achievement, BTS became the first K-pop group to become nominees in all three major music awards in the U.S. This megahit Korean act has been nominated for the Billboard Music Awards and the American Music Awards and also won the awards for four and three consecutive years, respectively. Attention is already focusing on whether BTS will take home their first award from the Grammys.

Immediately after the announcement, BTS expressed their overwhelming emotions by writing, “Thank you all for listening to and sympathizing with our music during difficult times. More than anything else, ARMYs are the ones who made the miracle for us to become ‘Grammys-nominated artists.’ Thank you and love you. Thank you Recording Academy for this great honor!”

The group also posted a short clip of RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook watching the live broadcast of the Recording Academy’s announcement. Each member showed different reactions (getting stoned, shouting, jumping), putting a smile on fans’ faces. Soon, J-Hope and Suga also expressed their joy, drawing attention.

Later in the day, BTS once again shared their feelings through their label. They first showed their joy, saying, “We’re indescribably happy as we have finally achieved the fruits of our efforts,” and also expressed their desire to win the trophy, saying, “We would love to thank our ARMYs for giving us the opportunity to be nominated and now that we actually became nominees, we are looking forward to taking home the trophy.”
