Lee Min Ho Joins Hands with Apple TV+ and Will Star in ‘Pachinko’
Lee Min Ho will star in the drama Pachinko, produced by Apple TV+.
According to a media outlet, Lee Min Ho recently decided to take the lead role in the drama adaptation of the best-selling novel Pachinko, written by Lee Min Jin.
Pachinko, New York Times best-selling novel and a finalist for the National Book Award for fiction, chronicles the hopes and dreams of four generations of a Korean immigrant family. The story journeys between Korea, Japan and America to tell the story of war and peace, love and loss, triumph and reckoning. For the book, Korean-American author Lee Min Jin stayed in Japan for 4 years to flawlessly capture the lives of Korean residents in Japan. Thanks to her effort, the book is considered one of the best works of the time.
Lee Min Ho is expected to broaden his territory with his collaboration with Apple TV+. From Boys Over Flower and The Heirs, the actor quickly became one of the biggest Hallyu stars and recently made another jackpot with The King: Eternal Monarch, which was released worldwide through Netflix.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Korean-American Soo Hugh (who oversaw on season one of the AMC anthology The Terror) penned the script, executive produces and serves as showrunner on the series. Author Lee will also be credited as an exec producer.”
With this, Lee Min Ho will join the Apple TV roster that includes series starring Chris Evans, Hailee Steinfeld, Sara Bareilles and Jennifer Garner.
