There have been reported that the Melon Music Awards (MMA), hosted by Kakao’s music platform Melon, will not be held this year in the aftermath of COVID-19, but this has been confirmed as false information.

In the morning of September 8, a media outlet reported, “Melon held a music award ceremony called ‘Melon Music Awards (MMA)’ either in November or December every year, but this year, it decided to cancel the event due to the COVID-19 epidemic.”

However, Kakao reassured, “MMA will be held this year. We are considering various methods in consideration of the external situations, and the exact time and method will be announced later.”

Meanwhile, MMA is an award ceremony that selects winners by reflecting data collected through Melon, fan votes, and experts’ evaluations.
