Lee Hyori announced that she will halt her Instagram activities soon.
On September 2, Lee Hyori left a message on her Instagram.
“Hello, everyone. I just wanted to let you know that I will stop using Instagram from about 3 days later. It’s not because of the recent incident (of course, I’d be lying if I say it had zero effect). I started this to communicate with fans thirsty for news since I wasn’t promoting often, but this is not easy and worries me here and there. I’ll think of a different way of communicating with our fans.
Thank you for always coming to see me, supporting me, and loving me. Of course, I’d like to thank those who left criticisms. I hope that you will remain firmly in your position in many difficult situations. I love you. Thank you.”
Since opening her Instagram account in 2016, Lee Hyori has been communicating with her fans steadily. She became even more active since she formed SSAK3 with Yoo Jae Suk and Rain.
However, she was embroiled in controversy when she visited karaoke with Yoona despite the COVID-19 guidelines. Then most recently, her Instagram account was bombarded with negative comments from Chinese netizens after she mentioned “Mao” as her new stage name in passing.
Meanwhile, Lee Hyori formed yet another group, Refund Expedition, with Uhm Jung Hwa, Jessi, and Hwasa through MBC’s How Do You Play?, drawing much attention.
