From Kang Ha Neul to EXO’s Sehun, ‘The Pirates 2’ Confirms Its Casting

The new film The Pirates 2: Goblin Flag (literal translation) confirmed its casting.

The Pirates 2: Goblin Flag is a comic action-adventure film about the thrilling and exhilarating story of those who gathered at sea to take the last treasure of the Goryeo royal family, which disappeared without a trace after Joseon was found.

Kang Ha Neul has established himself as a prominent actor by broadening his field after appearing in various works, including DONGJU; The Portrait of A Poet and Midnight Runners. Most recently, he showed memorable performances in When the Camellia Blooms. He will play the role of Woo Moo Chi, the leader of righteous outlaws who unexpectedly landed on a pirate ship though he claims himself to be the best swordsman in Joseon.

Hae Rang, a pirate who has a high reputation, will be played by Han Hyo Joo, who showed great performances through Masquerade and Cold Eyes. Han Hyo Joo successfully made her way to Hollywood by starring in Treadstone. Through The Pirates 2: Goblin Flag, she is expected to transform her character as well as personally perform high-level actions, showing a whole new side.

Actor Lee Kwang Soo, who showed friendly charm in The Accidental Detective 2: In Action and Inseparable Bros, will play pirate Mak Yi, who excels in individual play. The role of Bu Heung Soo, who competes with the pirates over hidden treasures, will be played by Kwon Sang Woo, who has led several box office hits with impressive performances such as HITMAN: AGENT JUN and The Divine Move 2: The Wrathful.

Chae Soo Bin, who drew attention through Love in the Moonlight and Where Stars Land, will play the role of So Nyeo, a girl who joins the pirate to find the lost treasures. Han Gung, the handsome pirate who excels in archery, will be played by EXO’s Sehun.

In addition, the role of Kang Seop, Woo Moo Chi’s right-hand man and second in command of the righteous outlaws, is played by actor Kim Sung Oh, who showed various charms in various works. Park Ji Hwan, who left a deep impression through 1987: When the Day Comes and The Outlaws will play Pirate Ah Gui, who follows Hae Rang.

The Pirates 2: Goblin Flag was written by writer Chun Sung Il, who wrote Chuno and The Pirates, and directed by director Kim Jung Hoon, best known for Accidental Detective.

The Pirates 2: Goblin Flag, which will mark the full-fledged start of the “Pirate” series, will begin shooting in July.
