Kim Soo Hyun returned to the stage in Indonesia, making one of his first major public appearances since stepping back from activities amid controversy over his personal life.
The actor appeared as a special guest on Indonesian broadcaster RCTI’s 37th anniversary live special “Mahakarya RCTI 37” on August 23rd, taking part in both a performance and interview.
Dressed in a white suit with a black bow tie, Kim greeted the audience, saying, “Hello, I’m Kim Soo Hyun. Thank you for inviting me to such a meaningful occasion today.”
He then performed “Dreaming,” his song from the soundtrack of the 2011 KBS drama Dream High.
Kim appeared visibly nervous at points, coming in slightly late at the beginning of the song and briefly wavering in pitch. He smiled after the slip before collecting himself and continuing the performance.
After finishing, Kim stood quietly as the audience cheered, closing his eyes and smiling as he appeared to hold back emotion. He later waved to fans from the stage.
The appearance drew particular attention as Kim has largely remained out of the public eye since allegations surfaced in March 2025 that he had dated late actress Kim Sae Ron while she was a minor.
Kim acknowledged that the two had previously been in a relationship but denied dating her before she reached adulthood, maintaining that their relationship began after she was an adult.
Legal disputes surrounding the allegations have continued. But on July 29th, Seoul Seongdong Police decided not to forward to prosecutors cases accusing Kim Soo Hyun of violating the Child Welfare Act.
The actor has recently begun resuming some activities overseas. He was named a model for Philippine fashion brand BENCH and is now scheduled to meet fans at a large-scale fan event on October 2nd at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Metro Manila.
The venue can accommodate approximately 20,000 people.
