Sunday, January 5th, was the 77th Golden Globe Awards and OnDemandKorea was there to support the film Parasite make history.

The box office hit was nominated for the Foreign Language Film Award alongside many other outstanding films such as Lulu Wang’s The Farewell (U.S.), Ladj Ly’s Les Miserables (France), Pedro Almodovar’s Pain and Glory (Spain), and Céline Sciamma’s Portrait of a Lady on Fire (France), but ultimately took the win, becoming the first Korean film in the history of the Awards show to take home the award. The film had also been nominated for Best Screenplay of a Motion Picture, as well as Best Director of a Motion Picture.

We were able to get exclusive interviews with the director Bong Joon-Ho, actor Song Kang-Ho, and actress Cho Yeo-Jeong, which you can now view on our website by clicking the links below:

A Korean film gaining such popularity and also making history by winning the Foreign Film Award at such a big awards show in the States should only tell us one thing. That, just like Bong Joon-Ho said in his acceptance speech, we will all be introduced to so many more amazing films once we overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles since we all use only one language.. the cinema.

We are beyond excited for their win and would like to send another huge congratulations to the director, as well as the cast and crew for making history!
