BTS member Suga is currently under investigation for driving an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol.
Seoul Yongsan Police Station announced on August 7th that Suga has been booked on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (DUI).
According to the police, Suga was found lying on the ground while parking his electric scooter on August 6th. Police officers who came to help him noticed the smell of alcohol and took him to the nearby police station.
A breathalyzer test confirmed that Suga’s blood alcohol content exceeded the legal limit for driving. After completing the necessary procedures, he was released from the police station.
Suga enlisted in the Korea Army Training Center in March to fulfill his mandatory military service and is currently serving as a public service worker. His discharge date is set for June 2025.
In response to this incident, HYBE Entertainment has issued an official statement on Weverse. They stated, “On Tuesday, August 6th, Suga was riding an electric scooter on his way home after drinking. After traveling about 500 meters while wearing a helmet, he fell while parking and was subjected to a breathalyzer test by nearby police, resulting in a fine and the revocation of his license.”
They continued, “Fortunately, no injuries or property damage occurred as a result of the incident, and he returned home under police escort. We apologize for disappointing many people due to our artist’s inappropriate behavior. He will receive appropriate disciplinary action from his workplace for causing social controversy as a public service worker. We will pay closer attention to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.”
