Netflix’s Gyeongseong Creature has revealed its jump from 1945 to 2024, showcasing stills of Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee, along with the new cast lineup for Season 2.
Gyeongseong Creature, which told the story of two young individuals fighting against a monster born out of greed in the darkest era of 1945, leaps to Seoul in 2024 for its second season.
Season 2’s first look and the addition of new cast members Lee Mu Saeng and Bae Hyeon Seong hint at another thrilling start to the globally captivating story. Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 will revolve around Ho Jae, who resembles Tae Sand in every way, and Chae Ok, who survived the spring of Gyeongseong, and the unfinished connections and destinies of Gyeongseong.
After its release, Season 1 quickly climbed to No. 1 in South Korea and reached third in Netflix’s Global Top 10 (Non-English) category. It also made it to the Top 10 lists in 69 countries worldwide, including Brazil, Japan, Singapore, France, and Australia.
While Season 1 showcased monsters born from greed and humans more monstrous than the creatures, Season 2 shifts to Seoul in 2024. The last episode’s end-credit scene, which featured someone calling out Ho Jae’s name, followed by a man with the same face as Tae Sang turning around, sparked curiosity.
Director Jung Dong Yoon focused on “the fate and future of Tae Sang and Chae Ok” for Season 2, promising “a completely different charm in the story.” VFX Supervisor Jin Jong Hyun expressed, “With the change in space and time, we will bring a distinct expression. The world will expand further.”
The actors shared their anticipation for the new season: “Looking forward to how Tae Sang and Chae Ok’s past narrative will be portrayed in Season 2” (Park Seo Joon), “I hope viewers will pay close attention to how Chae Ok has changed over time and whether Ongseong Hospital was really destroyed” (Han So Hee).
Additionally, the joining of Lee Mu Saeng, known for the impressive acting prowess he showed in The Glory, Thirty-Nine, and Maestra: Strings of Truth, and Bae Hyeon Seong from the Hospital Playlist series and Our Blues, adds to the excitement for their new roles in Season 2.
